He is the author of two books, the novel Deadly Force (2015), and the memoir Lawyers, Liars, and the Art of Storytelling (2014), and an adjunct law professor at the UCLA School of Law. Prior to becoming a writer, Shapiro practiced law for 10 years as an Honors Program Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Division Organized Crime & Racketeering Section, and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California. A graduate of the University of California Berkeley School of Law, he earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in history from Harvard University, and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oriel College, Oxford University. Amy Feinberg (director) Freelance director, master teacher, and producer residing in Boulder, CO, Amy has enjoyed a career that has focused on new play development and premiere productions around the country. She created and headed the Directing Playwriting and Production program at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia (2004-2012) and was the Producing Artistic Director of The Hypothetical Theatre Company in NYC 1992-2012. Amy is currently working on projects with playwrights in various stages of production and has recently workshopped Eight Nights by Jennifer Maisel and online projects over the pandemic. In New York, she has directed the premieres of There or Here by Jennifer Maisel, My Sweetheart’s the Man in the Moon by Don Nigro, Beautiful Hills of Brooklyn starring Joanna Merlin, The Action Against Sol Schumann by Jeffrey Sweet, Ordinary Heroes and Almost Grown Up by Aviva Jane Carlin, Gun Club by Hunt Holman, Quake and Sparrow Project by Melanie Marnich, Sitting Pretty by Amy Rosenthal, Buying Time by Michael Weller and its extended run via SB Productions; The Heart of Art by Michael Weller, Mickey's Home by Stephen Fife, the critically acclaimed Ghost on Fire by Michael Weller, and many others. For the National Park Service, Amy wrote, directed and produced Ellis Island Stories which was in residence at the Ellis Island immigration Museum 1992-2000 and now tours nationally to schools, festivals, libraries, etc. Other NY and Regional Credits include: A Rose For Miss Emily: the Emily Griffith Story and Goldineh Medina (Curious Theatre in Denver), Topdog/ Underdog at The Freedom Theatre (Forbidden Culture), There or Here workshop (Play Penn), Brass Birds Don’t Sing (True Colors & Jewish Theatre of the South) in Atlanta, Almost Grown Up (Sacramento Theatre Co), The Action Against Sol Schumann at (JTS) in Atlanta, West Coast premiere of Quake, Shedding Light (Shadowland Theatre), Gun Club (Cherry Lane), etc. In Philadelphia, Amy has directed the Philly premieres of The Walls by Lisa Dillman, Quake, Jennifer Maisel’s Match, and Shedding Light by Rich Orloff, and a classic production of To Kill a Mockingbird for Uarts. Amy holds an MFA in directing from Northern Illinois University and is a proud member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, the Actors Equity Association and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
Adara Baltazar (Production Stage Manager) graduated from the University of Denver in 2019 with her bachelors in theatre and psychology with a distinction in stage management. Since then, she has been working as a stage manager throughout Colorado. Her recent stage management and assistant stage management projects include Shakespeare in the Parking Lot (DCPA), Dorothy's Dictionary (BETC), Fourteen Funerals (BETC), and Antigone (University of Denver). She is also working towards her masters degree in forensic psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Adara is thrilled to be working with Theatre Or on this exciting remount of Sisters in Law.
Rachel Finley (Costume designer) is a Colorado native who has been active in theatre for over 10 years. She studied performing arts at Colorado Christian University earning her Bachelors of Arts then spent time in New York City continuing her studies at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Starting her theatre career as an actress she transitioned to also being a costume designer in 2012. In 2016 she created her own costuming company named Rachel’s Costume Shop. Some of her projects include HONK! With Phamaly Theatre Company, Ada and the Engine with Firehouse Theatre Company and Sisters in Law with Theatre Or, both of which have be nominated for Henry Awards for Best Costume Design. Outside of costume design she spends her days helping people in and around Denver buy and sell homes as a Real Estate agent with the New Era Group at Your Castle Real Estate.
Victoria Green (Assistant Stage Manager & Costume Coordinator) has been working in theatre for over a decade and enjoys being a jack of all trades behind the scenes. She is excited to work with Theatre Or putting on Sisters in Law. This will be Victoria’s 6th production this year, she started the year by stage managing and costume designing Sordid Lives (Wheatridge Theatre Co.) and then spent their spring stage managing Information for Foreigners (Wheatridge Theatre Co.), while also stage managing God of Carnage (Invictus Theatre), to start the summer she was costume designer and props master for Aly and the Genie (Vintage). And had the pleasure of spending this fall stage managing Lysistrata (Wheatridge Theatre Co.). She is proud to present her final show of the year, thanks you for joining and hopes you enjoy, Sisters in Law.
Bonnie Greene (Graphic Designer) previously provided graphic design work for Oh My God! and other Theatre Or productions and co-productions. She also stage-managed Theatre Or's Oh My God!, Kindertransport, and From Door to Door as well as some Vintage Theater and Cherry Creek Theatre productions.
Jordan Hass (Assistant Lighting Designer) is a lighting designer currently working out of Denver. Her recent shows designed include, Flying Kites (Workshop production), Jekyll and Hyde(Arvada Center), The Lonesome West (University of Denver), and Hedda Gabler (Co-design, University of Denver).
Donna Kanne (Properties Design) is excited to join Theatre Or for this production. She has designed Pass Over, Skeleton Crew, The Humans, and The Cake (Curious) as well as The Oldest Boy and The Spitfire Grill (Vintage). She received her BFA in Theatre from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Donna is thrilled to join Theatre Or for this production and is incredibly thankful to the entire cast and crew for the wonderful journey.
Laura K. Love (Scenic Designer) For the past 35 years, Laura has worked as a designer, technician, and teacher at theatres and universities throughout the Rocky Mountain region, including the Denver Center Theatre Company, the Arvada Center, MSU Denver, the University of Denver, the Aurora Fox Theatre, Vintage Theatre and Phamaly Theatre Company. She is recently retired from the Department of Theatre and Dance at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she designed costumes and scenery for almost 20 years as well as teaching in the BFA program in Applied Theatre Technology and Design.
Shannon McKinney (Lighting Designer) is a freelance designer and professor at The University of Denver. Her designs include Into the Woods, The Liar, Stick Fly, Small Mouth Sounds, Murder on the Orient Express (The Arvada Center); The Two Gentlemen from Verona, The Book of Will, The Odyssey, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Colorado Shakespeare Festival); Fireflies (Curious Theatre Company); Honk! (Phamaly, Tokyo, Japan); Grounded (Sys Tryst Productions). Regional designs include productions for Steppenwolf, The Goodman, The Court Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, The Alliance Theatre, as well as The Denver Center. Shannon has received seven CTG Henry Awards for Outstanding Lighting Design.
Brian Miller (Technical Director, Photographer, Videographer) has been an active designer, builder and photographer in the area for more than twenty years, and was delighted to build this one. Recent work includes lighting for Blithe Spirit and set and lighting for A Walk in the Woods (Bas Bleu), lighting for Ann (Cherry Creek) for which he received a Henry Nomination, lighting for Sense & Sensibility (OpenStage), and lighting for The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes and Lizzie (Forgelight). Brian won a Henry Award in 2018 for lighting The Crucible (OpenStage) and in 2019 for scenery for The Waverly Gallery (Bas Bleu). He serves as Technical Director for the Bas Bleu, and proudly serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of both the Colorado Theatre Guild and the Bas Bleu.
Selena A. Naumoff (Assistant to the Producer, Run Crew), with a BA in Theatre Arts, Selena has taught theatre classes, directed, and performed in theatre and film. She is active in theatre all over the Denver Metro area, sits on the Wheat Ridge Theatre Company board, and is the resident Technical Director for the South Suburban Parks & Recs Theatre Department. She is delighted to be part of the Sisters in Law experience, her first with Theatre Or! Some of her more recent credits include director of The Shadow Box (Wheat Ridge), Inspector Leach in Towards Zero (Firehouse), Bitsy Mae Harling in Sordid Lives (Wheat Ridge), lights & sound design for God of Carnage (Invictus), and Martha in Evie at Eighteen (LA Film School).
Rick Reid (sound designer) Rick has served as sound designer on more than 100 theater productions in Colorado. Rick has two other shows on Denver-area stages right now: Dot (Vintage Theatre Productions) and Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley (Firehouse Theater Company.) Rick is a teaching artist at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, a freelance voice actor, a member of the Firehouse Theater Company board, and the producer/host of the Theremin 30 podcast. Max Silverman (Original Music) is a Composer and Sound Designer originally from Boulder, and has lived and worked in New York City for years. Covid brought him back to his Colorado home where he joyfully joined the theatre community in Boulder/Denver, while continuing his work in New York. University of Denver Tech Theatre Internship Program
The Technical Theatre Internship Program provides DU students in the Department of Theatre with paid opportunities to work with professional companies and designers in a supportive setting that prepares them for work in the entertainment industry.
During the build process, students are engaged in the construction shop with working professionals, and then experience the challenges of moving the show elements to a professional venue, working with the theatre company’s team to install and present the show.
Previous TTIP projects include Full Monty, Matilda and Footloose for Parker Arts, Reunion for NYC-based Creative Endeavor, three full productions for Lamont Opera Theatre, American Son and Heroes of the Fourth Turning at Curious Theatre Company, JQA and The Children with BETC, as well as projects for The Athena Project and Phamaly.
